Ottawa, ON - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced the appointment of Mike Duheme as the next Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
Duheme, a career RCMP officer with over 30 years of experience, will take up the position on October 1, 2024. He replaces outgoing Commissioner Brenda Lucki, who is retiring.
In a statement, Trudeau praised Duheme's "outstanding service and leadership" in the RCMP. He noted Duheme's experience in various roles, including commanding the RCMP's National Division and serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Federal Policing.
